Farouk El-Baz Student Research Award

to encourage and support desert studies

Student membership in the Geological Society of America (GSA) is required.
Eligible applicants must be either in their senior year of their undergraduate studies or at the Masters or Ph.D. level.

NOTE: Applicants who receive a graduate student research grant may not receive this award in the same year. Past GSA research grant recipients may apply and receive this award.

GSA offers reduced membership dues (US$6) for students from developing countries.

Supporting materials are required
in addition to this form.

  1. A one-page description of proposed research under title
  2. Letter of recommendation by university (research) advisor

All supporting materials must be
received at GSA by 1 February.
