Paid Geoscientist Opportunities
on National Parks, National Forests, and BLM Lands

Patrick Burns, Hydrogeologist, Fraser Experimental Forest (Arapahoe National Forest), USFS, 2010, Summer GeoCorps America is a program of the Geological Society of America , in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management, and the National Park Service.

The program offers paid short-term geoscience positions in some of the most beautiful natural areas in the world. Read the experiences of those who have participated in the past.

GeoCorps project areas include geology, hydrology, paleontology, mapping and GIS, minerals, soils, glaciology, geo-hazards, karst, education, interpretation, and more.

GeoCorps positions are divided into three major categories: Standard "GeoCorps America" positions, "GeoCorps Guest Scientist" positions, and "GeoCorps Diversity Internships" (which include the "GeoCorps American Indian Internships" sub-category).

Fall/Winter 2013-2014 GeoCorps positions have now been posted! Apply between May 1 and July 1.

SSummer 2013 ositions have been removed from the website. Some BLM summer positions that were placed "on-hold" may end up interviewing and selecting candidates soon. Qualified candidates will be contacted directly. Some BLM and NPS summer positions may be re-posted along with the fall/winter positions, if additional candidates are needed. GSA Foundation Video Features GeoCorps

The GSA Foundation produced a video about GSA programs that benefit students. The video shows some GeoCorps participants and supervisors on location at Rocky Mountain National Park, Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Historical Park, and Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument.
