Forum and Data Repository
Forum
Comments for Forum should focus on the broad assertions in the original article or their implications, and they must not be too specific or personal. A Comment must be submitted within six months of publication of the original article. The Geology editor will send a copy of the Comment to the original author(s) for a Reply, which should be submitted to GSA within one month. Comments and Replies will continue to be limited to the equivalent of one printed page, including references, figures, and tables (about 7500 characters of text equal one printed page). Comments and Replies are published electronically on the Online Journals site; the print version will contain only a notice in the table of contents indicating the titles, authors, and location of online material.
Data Repository
Authors can place information that supplements and expands on their published
article in the GSA Data Repository. (Newly acquired data presented only in graphs
in the manuscript must be placed there.) Data in the Repository are not needed
by every reader but are essential to a few who are involved in studies similar
to the topic of the paper. Papers that have associated materials in the Repository
include a footnote to that effect on the title page. This material is available
on request from GSA, is posted on GSA's Web site (www.geosociety.org/pubs/drpint.htm),
and is included on the GSA Journals on CD-ROM.
