GSA staffer Edna Collis is retiring after 20 years … GSA Awards & RecognitionCitations and responses for the 2005 GSA Award and Medal Recipients are now available for viewing. Deadline for the GSA 2006 award nominations and 2006 Fellowship nominations is 1 Feb. 2006. GSA Geophysics Division is seeking nominations for the George P. Woollard Award, given annually to recognize outstanding geology contributions through the application of the principles and techniques of geophysics. Especially for StudentsGSA is now accepting Research Grant Applications for 2006. The primary role of the GSA research grants program is to provide partial support of master's and doctoral thesis research in the geological sciences for graduate students at universities in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Central America. In 2005, 45% of the applicants received funding with the average award being US$1533. Applications are due soon for two University of Michigan student training programs in Biosphere-Atmosphere studies. Hurricane Relief ProjectGSA Member Allison Dean begins to rebuild after Hurricane Katrina. New postings for needed Library Items are now on the GSA Hurricane Relief Bulletin Board.
