The mentor will frequently check with the participant to make sure they understand the tasks, and to assure that the participant does not become overwhelmed by their project activities. Progress meetings between the participant and Assistant Field Manager for Lands and Minerals will be held at least every two weeks to ensure successful performance and progress is being made.

Professional development & learning opportunities: (trainings, certifications, networking, etc.):
The BLM office may provide a wide variety of rich professional development opportunities, such as First-Aid / CPR certification & other career exploration opportunities. A BLM mentor will be assigned to the participant for the full time period of the project. The participant will gain exposure to all aspects of Fluid Mineral Field Office staff duties. The participant may be paired with a career advisor, someone who is not necessarily a Geologist, Petroleum Engineer, or Natural Resource Specialist. This advisor will assist the participant in learning and understanding the broader mission of the Bureau of Land Management.
