Position Description:
The intern will be part of a team responsible for several different resource management objectives, with their specific focus on the monitoring and management of invasive plant species. Tasks will include surveying known areas of invasive species presence for expansion and mechanical removal of various species. Application of herbicides may be included, if the applicant is certified, or when the park's certified herbicide applicator is available to supervise the participant. The participant's secondary focus will be water quality of both thermal and cold spring water, and of the surface water creeks in the park. Tasks will include collecting measurements of water quality parameters, data entry, and establishing a current database of past water quality information from various sources. The participant's tertiary duties will be to assist with other resource management objectives such as fire management tasks, insect pest monitoring and management tasks, taking part in flora and fauna species studies, and assisting with the digitization of the park's natural resource records.
