Position Description:
Apply by Feb. 20, 2015 -- This position will be focused on three separate but intertwined research projects aimed at improving the understanding of groundwater basins associated with karst springs in the Grand Canyon. These projects will include dye tracing work, water sampling, and field water quality work. The guest scientist will assist with both field and office activities associated with these projects. Field work will include assisting park hydrologists collecting water quality and quantity data at springs and streams and following strict protocols to avoid cross-contamination of dye samples. Office work related to these projects will include data management, field report writing, sample processing and potentially some geospatial analysis using ArcMAP. This position is offered through the Geological Society of America's GeoCorps America Program in partnership with the National Park Service’s Geoscientists-in-the-Parks Program.
