Position Description:
{THIS POSITION HAS BEEN FILLED AND IS NOT ACCEPTING NEW APPLICATIONS.} The opportunity is located within the Resource Management Division and will include both office and field work at both Yorktown and Jamestown sites within Colonial National Historical Park. The park is located in Tidewater region of Virginia and contains valuable and sensitive cultural and natural resources. The selected individual(s) will have an opportunity to work in all of the Park’s Resource Management program areas ranging from fieldwork, site condition assessments, natural and cultural resource monitoring, and museum collections management. The Park's museum collections contain artifacts recovered from archeological excavations, donated historical objects, and natural resource specimens. The field portion will be spent assisting park Resource Management staff, researchers, and others with a wide range of resource monitoring and related projects. The primary duty of the participant will be to do assist with field work in the Park, update the Park's Management Information System (ASMIS) database, accession objects into the collections using the Interior Collections Management System (ICMS), and monitor the Jamestown collection. Work may be physically challenging at times, involving hiking in remote areas. In addition to general field work the participant will focus on a project that includes indoor office work, such as verifying data entered into ICMS and ASMIS.
