Ventral valve of Floweria chemungensis (Conrad, 1842) (specimen AMNH 37157b) from the Chemung Group of New York, USA. This was a long-lived species in the Late Devonian. Although native to eastern North America,F. chemungensis participated in a westward invasion event in the mid-Frasnian and subsequently colonized the New Mexico region. See related article, p. 4–9.
