Active faulting modifies the landscape, especially in the eastern foothills of the Colombian Andes. This photo looks E-SE at uplifted fluvial terraces and risers in the hanging wall of the active east-directed Yopal-Cusiana thrust system bounding the Llanos basin of Colombia. Studies document active faulting located in the interior of South America, far from the subduction boundary.
