About the cover:
Active faulting modifies the landscape, especially in the eastern foothills of the Colombian Andes. This photo looks E-SE at uplifted fluvial terraces and risers in the hanging wall of the active east-directed Yopal-Cusiana thrust system bounding the Llanos basin of Colombia. Studies document active faulting located in the interior of South America, far from the subduction boundary. Understanding the distribution and kinematics of active faulting is an important step in mitigating seismic hazards. Photo by Michael Taylor. See related article, p. 4–10.
