"Missing link" not thereJanuary 4, 2002 I am also a long-standing member of GSA and other professional geological organizations and have been practicing geology/hydrogeology for 22 years. Amen to Mark Hostetter's comments (GSA Today, January 2002, p. 32). If one goes back to the literature of the days of Darwin, one will find that Darwin himself did not even believe his own theory of evolution. Nowhere in credible scientific literature has evolution, in the way Darwin proposed, ever been proven, it is a belief (which would have to include a large step of faith). To teach such evolution in the schools as fact is just a flat out lie. Official statements from an organization such as GSA should not be stating beliefs or theories as facts. Nowhere in the scientific record is there evidence of one species evolving into another. The reason that the missing link between humans and apes is "missing" is because it is not there, if it were, everyone would know about it and there would be no question. Thank you. LaJan Barnes |
