Why GSA Membership is Important to Me
The thing I value most about my GSA membership is… social media training for scientists. I especially appreciate that
GSA is actively providing science communication skill building
… that it has allowed me to grow a network of colleagues, friends, for their members! These free workshops give scientists a chance
and everything in between. to develop their communication skills, which can empower them
to share their science outside of the scientific community, thereby
GSA meetings give me the opportunity to engage with new, helping to build public trust in science (and scientists) and improv-

Its Tectonic Evolution on the North America Plate Boundary Mount Diablo and the geology of the Central California Coast Ranges are the
subject of a volume celebrating the Northern California Geological Society’s
75th anniversary. The breadth of research illustrates the complex Meso-
zoic to Cenozoic tectonic evolution of the plate boundary. Recent fault-

tephrochronology, zircon provenance studies, apatite ssion track
analyses, and foraminifera and calcareous plankton assemblages
tied to Cenozoic climate events. Chapters also address the history
of geologic work in the area and the resource development of oil and
gas, mercury, coal, and sand, and road aggregate.
